THE ETHNOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION “TRADITIONAL RUSSIA” OPENED IN THE STATE DUMA

       The opening ceremony was attended by Alexander Zhukov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma; Gennady Zyuganov, General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation; Vladimir Ivanov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Nationalities; State Duma deputies Anatoly Greshnevikov, Roza Chemeris, and Olga Kazakova; Alexey Zagrebin, Director of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Valery Belgorodsky, Rector of the Kosygin Russian State University; and others.

       Mikhail Gryaznov, Head of the Fund for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science and Education, delivered welcoming remarks to the participants.

       He emphasized that Russia represents a unique civilizational community formed by numerous nationalities and ethnic groups that have lived side by side for centuries, enriching one another’s cultures. All peoples of Russia enjoy equal rights and opportunities while preserving a shared all-Russian identity.

       The exhibition features eight installations dedicated to key ethnic cultures of the federal districts. Each installation presents traditional costumes, household items, musical instruments, and other exhibits illustrating the culture and traditions of the peoples of Russia.

       The exhibition was organized by the State Duma Committee on Nationalities, the Fund for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science and Education, the Assembly of the Peoples of Russia, the Miklukho-Maklai Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Kosygin Russian State University.
